Lab 13

Task

1.1 Configure a non-F5 server and the virtual servers it hosts as a server on the BIG-IP DNS system

Explanation

In the previous section we have seen how to add BIG-IP boxes as servers and how to establish the iQuery among them. Within this section we will see how to add a non-f5 device as Server, for non-f5 devices you don’t need to establish the iquery.

Configuration

This can be done again in two ways: Using Configuration Utility or TMSH Shell

Using Configuration Utliity:

Go to Main>DNS>GSLB>Servers>Servers List

In the above example I have added Server 1 in London DC as SERVER, if you can observe Product type is Generic Host but other than that we can also find many other vendors so that we can choose one. As of now I have selected as Generic Host, other than this everything is same as we did earlier. If we are adding any other vendor load balancer then we can include Virtual Servers but in our example it is a server himself so we skipped it.

Verification

In order to verify whether the Server is added we can do it using configuration utility or tmsh

Using tmsh: go to London DC GTM

list gtm server SERVER command will help out
